A grass-like perennial of moist woodlands, meadows, and stream edges, this sedge forms loose clumps of broad, arching leaves. In late spring and summer, it produces slender, delicate flower spikes that rise above the foliage, often giving a soft, airy appearance. Its seeds provide food for wildlife, while the dense foliage helps stabilize soil in damp habitats. Broad Looseflower Sedge adds subtle texture and greenery to forest understories and open wetland areas.
