Yellow Fieldcap is a small, delicate mushroom of lawns and grassy places. Its cap is bright yellow when fresh, soon fading to pale or whitish as it ages. The stem is thin and fragile, and the gills shift from gray to rusty brown as spores mature. Appearing after rain, it lasts only a day or two before collapsing. Not edible.
